Wheelbarrow
This Sunday we will be surrendering to John 8:31-47. It would be great if you would read those verses prior to Sunday! Check out the sermon teaser for this week on the High Wire Act.
Is that guy crazy, skilled or maybe he just lost a bet to his wife? Whatever the reason, he had not only faith that he could cross from fixed point A to fixed point B, but he had the courage to do it! This week's sermon title is "Get in the Wheelbarrow!"
A penny for your thoughts: What are some of the most difficult things that God asks Christians to do?

One of most difficult things God can ask from us is obedience. When it come to giving complete surrender to something out of our control goes against all human instincts. We as humans can handle it and we don't need any help............just ask us.

Re: Wheelbarrow
Obedience pretty well covers it. If we were to get just a little more specific, I would say denial of self. At least for me.

Re: Wheelbarrow
For me, it would be to obey without knowing why...or to "wait upon the Lord". It is the hardest to not do or go but to wait for His timing.

Obedience, for sure. Close runner-up, 'loving thy neighbor (relatives, friends, strangers) as thy self'. The person waiting next to me in a check out line -- am I REALLY concerned about his needs, his salvation? Could I cover him in pure Jesus-like love?

most difficult
God told Moses to go up into the mountain and "be there." Moses was "being there" 7 days before God showed up.
How much "be" can I be before I give in and do?
It is asking alot to require "being" without "doing."

Re: Wheelbarrow
Did you notice that guy's intense focus? If we keep our eyes on the Lord with that much intensity, we won't be distracted by the 'noise' around us. We will be; eyes straight into his, following his voice in our ear, overcoming fear, obstacles, setbacks and still victorious in the end. Obedience?? Definitely, no hard heartedness, no density caused by outside influences that causes his instructions to just roll off our hard surface. Rather openness, porous, so focused on him that when he speaks it soaks into us and stays with us, sustains us, we respond obediently and are successful, through and in him.

Re: Wheelbarrow
The man on the tight-rope kept his eyes fixed on his goal. I am finding this so true in my walk with the Lord. Like Peter in the boat. As long as Peter kept his eyes fixed on Jesus, he walked on water. But as soon as he looked down at his cirumstances he began to sink. John 8: 31 says: "If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you FREE!!" Like anything else in life that we want to improve in---we have to spend time in the Word to know the truth, then pray to experience the freedom. Hopefully our choices will align themselves with what we know to be truth.

Note: not sure what happened, but Jeannie's post appeared in this thread as well as another, so I deleted the duplicate. If anyone else notices this happening, let me know.
Thanks!
Thanks!
