Re: What Would You Say?
How do you propose that we, as Christians, help "turn the lights on" for unbelievers?

Show love and compassion as opposed to judgment and condemnation. Take the magnifying glass that we use to pick out other's faults, and point it at ourselves for a change.
It is not our place to judge or condemn. We can point people towards the Truth. If they seek, they will find. The Holy Spirit will take care of the conviction, and if they are in fact in the wrong, they will be convicted.

Re: What Would You Say?
We can't turn the light on for anybody. "You can lead a horse to water, but you can't force it to drink" Same with the Christian Faith, we can show people the "light" by our testimony, and God's love, compassion, and grace, but we can't make somebody accept God's gift of salvation.
One thing I am learning is that before I can truly offer God's love and grace to others, I have to be willing to accept it for myself. We can either be our own worst critic, or a friend to ourselves like we are to others.
It isn't until we can accept God's grace for ourselves that we can share it to others fully!
From there, we abide by His word, and remember that love is the greatest.

Re: What Would You Say?
The saying, "You can lead a horse to water, but you cannot make him drink" may have some merit. I have also heard you can put salt tablets in his mouth to make him thirsty enough to drink.
Isn't that what Jesus said, "You are the salt of the earth..."? We are to induce thirst for God in the unbeliever by our "salty" lives for Christ.

Re: What Would You Say?
I just re-read the above post that began in 2008. It is amazing at how my ministry to others has been dramatically shaped by my one conversation with this lady.
I could be totally wrong, but I sense that I am a much more compassionate listener and minister because of what God through this lady has taught me.
What would you say to this lady?
