Valley of the Blind

Post by Noel George on Thu Sep 18, 2008 2:55 pm

After watching the "sermon teaser" on Valley of the Blind, what are your thoughts? Do you ever find yourself wrestling with the fact that you have been healed and yet are not passing on that same healing?
This week we will be focusing on the 3 fold role of the Holy Spirit from John 16:5-11. Please read and meditate on this prior to Sunday's service!

Jesus said, "If you were blind, you would not be guilty of sin; but now that you claim that you can see, your guilt remains." John 9:41.

Please watch the video sermon teaser on the sermons tab then answer this question:
"Is a person truly healed if they are not willing to pass on a healing?"

I would love to hear your responses.

Valley of the Blind

Are you saying that only the physical was healed, not the spiritual? Are the eyes that were opened his spiritual eyes? Will he be made blind once more if he does not pass on the salvation he received?

According to John 9, the man that was healed of physical blindness was not healed of his spiritual blindness at the same time. It was not until Jesus came back to the once blind man that he received his spiritual sight. So yes, I am saying that it is possible to experience a physical healing from God and not a spiritual healing. What are your thoughts?

THOROUGHLY Healed

Post by dalehill47 on Fri Sep 19, 2008 2:21 pm

If by 'truly' you mean 'thoroughly' healed, then the answer would be "No."
It is possible to be healed/saved and not enjoy the fulness of that blessing.

Consider the passage: Jesus went away so that the Comforter would come. The comforter, the Holy Spirit was sent to be with us, to be in us.
He is also sent to reprove/convict the world. He is not going to do that without us. He uses us.
That conviction is not going to occur in some 'airy-fairy, New Age' manner without our participation.

I may be saved from hell to go to heaven in the sweet by and by. But, if I do not live according to the Word, then I will have little enjoyment of that blessing in the nasty here and now.

Thanks for the invite!

I believe Christ is saying to the blind man: You have had the privilege to see my Divine Nature and still do not recognize or accept the sufficiency of it. You deny me as your Healer (maybe physical and spiritual).

For a recap: the Holy Spirit's three-fold role consists of convincing the world of its sin, the availability of God's goodness and of deliverance from judgment.

Until the Holy Spirit dwells within us, are we capable of 'truly' sharing our 'healing' experiences with others? "The Holy Spirit, who is TRUTH" will guide us to pass on our healing with others. His presence will manifest itself so we want to share everything about the Messiah.
