Accountability

One of my acquaintances and I recently started meeting to hold each other accountable. I began searching for questions we could use to keep each other in check. Here they are: I broke them down into categories.

Spiritual Life:

• Have you spent time with God on a regular basis?
• How much time did you spend in prayer this week?
• Did you pray for the others in this group?
• What one sin plagued your walk with God this week?
• Did you accomplish your spiritual goals this week?
• Are you giving to the Lord's work financially?
• How have you demonstrated a servant's heart?
• Are you satisfied with the time you spent with the Lord this week?
• Did you pray and read God's Word this week? What did you derive from this time?
• In what ways have you stepped out in faith since we last met?
• How has your relationship with Christ been changing?
• Did you worship in church this week?
• Have you shared your faith this week? How?
• Are the "visible" you and the "real" you consistent?
• Have you been praying for opportunities to speak to others about Jesus? Have you fully taken those opportunities? When was the last time you intentionally and clearly presented the gospel to an unbeliever?
• Are you enjoying prayer?
• Is Jesus alive to you? Is your hope in Him alone for putting sin to death? Are you experiencing the “sensible impression” of His work in your life?
• Have you been faithful in praying daily for each brother in this group by name?
• Have you had a regular time of personal worship in so far as your travel schedule and need for rest has allowed?
• Have you had a regular intercession time in so far as your travel schedule and need for rest has allowed?
• Have you been knowingly disobedient to the Lord in any way?
• Have you had a consistent time of Bible reading and prayer?
• Are you investing time alone with God?
• Am I using my “power’ for the glory of God alone?
• What have you done to reach out to the unsaved?
• Are you guarding your heart and mind in Christ Jesus?
• How have you experienced God in your life this week?

• Do you begin your day in prayer?

Work / Home Life:

• Has your thought life been pure?
• Do you treat your peers and coworkers as people loved by God?
• What significant thing did you do for your wife and/or family?
• What was your biggest disappointment? How did you decide to handle it?
• What was your biggest joy? Did you thank God?
• What do you see as your number one need for next week?
• Did you take time to show compassion for others in need?
• Did you control your tongue?
• What did you do this week to enhance your relationship with your spouse and/or child(ren)?
• In what ways has God blessed you this week? And what disappointments consumed your thoughts this week?
• What have you done for someone else this week?
• Are you habitually self-conscious, self-pitying or self-justifying?
• Have you been disciplined with your time (getting enough sleep, managing free time, not over / under-working, etc.)?
• Are you fulfilling all your biblical obligations to your household?
• What is one way you are seeking to improve yourself, your family or your surroundings?
• Have I been a servant to my wife; have I nourished and cherished her; have I sought to love her as Christ loves the church and gave Himself for her?
• Does my calendar demonstrate that I have made my family a priority and spent quantity/quality time with them?
• Have I been faithful in exercising my responsibility in the workplace with integrity before God and man?
• Have all my financial dealings been filled with integrity?
• Is there anyone to whom you have been disrespectful?
• How has your countenance been?
• Did you invest the proper quality/quantity of time in your most important relationships?
• Are you giving more than you are receiving?
• Am I quick to forgive and committed to love in all my relationships?
• Did your life reflect verbal integrity?
• Am I maintaining a healthy, balanced schedule?
• Have you given priority time to your family?
• Have any of your financial dealings lacked integrity?
• Have you made any progress dealing with the strongholds in your life?
• Did you express a forgiving attitude toward others?
• Did you practice any undisciplined behavior?
• Were you honorable in your financial dealings?

Trouble Areas:


• Have you committed any sexual sin?
• Did you put yourself in an awkward situation with a woman?
• Did you look at a woman in the wrong way?
• Have you been listening to your conscience: ceasing activities it convicts you of, and doing activities it prompts you to do?
• Have you been acting discreetly in your contacts with the opposite sex?
• Have you remained morally pure? Have you watched, done, said anything impure you ought to tell me about?
• Have I been with a woman in any way that could be viewed as compromising?
• Have I chosen to linger over sexually explicit material that I have read or viewed, or have I allowed my mind to dwell on provocative thoughts or images that have crossed the line that my God has clearly revealed to me should not be crossed?
• Have you inappropriately touched a woman since we last met?
• Have you viewed pornography in any form since we last met?
• Have you been with a woman since we last talked, in a way that might be seen as compromising?
• Have you exposed yourself to any sexually explicit material?
• Were you sexually pure?
• Have you committed any sexual sin?
• Did you put yourself in an awkward situation with a woman?
• Did you look at a woman in the wrong way?



Conclusion:


• Did you lie or mislead me in your answers to any of these questions? Is there anything else you think the Lord would desire you to tell me?
• Have I mislead (through minimization or omission), deceived or lied to you?
• How can we pray for you and help you?
• What do you see as your number one need for next week?

Wow, that is pretty comprehensive... how long does your accountability meeting last? That is a good idea though. It would definitely cover all of the bases.
