The Word of God

Post by weston on Mon Apr 21, 2008 9:38 pm

Wow! I was really uplifted by Mr. Matlock's stories. I think it is very important to bury yourself in the Word. Even if you can only spend five or ten minutes a day reading your Bible, do it! When Jesus was in the desert being tempted by Satan, what did He do? He quoted scripture. The Bible is our sword. Use it! Satan knows the Bible front to back, don't let him deceive you, make sure that you know it too!

Just something that has been on my mind.

Why?

Post by Noel George on Tue May 13, 2008 1:45 pm

Why is it that as a Christian, my first response to temptation is not like Christ's first response? It seems that when temptation comes my way, my first response is to think that I can handle it on my own?
Rich Mullins wrote a song with the lyrics, "We are not as strong as we think we are..." I can second that motion with great emotion!

Please pray for me to respond like Christ did when confronted with temptation = With the Word!

I think that we all struggle with trying to handle things our way. When I even think about handling things my way..my mind goes back to the times I tried to handle it my way and what the outcome is. Most of the time it prompts me to pray and seek God only. I will pray for you Noel.
