What Would Jesus Do in Monett?
There were about six of us talking one evening at the church about missions. The question came this way: "If Jesus were in Monett this week, what would He be doing?"
A question like that helps to bring extreme focus to a conversation! One said, "He wouldn't be here IN church, He would be OUT there helping others." Another said, "He would be meeting the needs of the hurting and down cast." After much discussion, the group decided that we had a lot of hurting people within our church that just needed some basics met in their own life. Maybe a physical need met would help open the door to meet spiritual needs. We began to talk about those in the room that needed minor repairs done on their homes. The group made a big leap to: How can we ask the people of our church to give us their need and then ask the people of our church to help meet the need?
After a bit of discussion a couple of Spirit-led people said, "We can make up a simple form to ask both of those questions of our people this Sunday."
And that is just what those Spirit-led people did. We have been receiving responses and are asking others to help meet those needs. Pretty cool how God works, huh? If you would like to give a need or help meet a need or BOTH, please contact the church office 235-ROCK (7625).
So if I asked you, "What would Jesus do in Monett today?" How would you respond?
Now, go do it! :-)
