Austin:

Would it be better to say that we are Christlike? In Christ? Being conformed to the image of His Son Jesus?

THE FACE IN THE MIRROR

The face in the mirror, reflection mine own,
What likeness is this that I see?
Trouble and sorrow, of lust and of greed,
O, vanish this image of me.

Strange are the shadows that lurk in the mind
To darken and hide "me" from me,
Taking projections of my carnal self
And naming them all after thee.

Turning the image, and laying the blame
On others, accusing them all
Of unholy conduct, deception and shame,
Of following Lucifer's fall.

Until that rare moment when Christ doth stand
And focus His spotlight on me,
And cause me to face right up to myself,
Admit the reflection I see.

And then by His grace the whole to erase,
Transforming and making anew,
What mercy and love stream down from above
To brighten the vision I view.

The face in the mirror, reflection mine own,
What likeness is this that I see?
Beauty of holiness, upright and pure,
The Christ that now liveth in me.

"For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all members of that one body, being many, and one body; SO ALSO IS THE ( definite article ) CHRIST. For by one Spirit (His) are we all baptized into one body . . . and have been all made to drink into one Spirit." [1 Corinthians 12:12-13].

1Co 1:12 Now this I say, that every one of you saith, I am of Paul; and I of Apollos; and I of Cephas; and I of Christ. 13 Is Christ divided?

Yes, gottcha, the many form one body. All those who are in Christ are the body of which Christ is the Head.

My pinky is me.
My foot is me.
My knee is me.

Every part of the body of Christ is Him.

But you (or we) are not Christ. A reflection, a vessel, a servant to the head as part of the body. No one can see a pinky and say "Hey, that's Austin" or a foot and say "There's Clint". We are indistinct as parts of the body. We are only individuals as ourselves. In God's omnipotence He knew us. He being timeless "knew" and "before" are only relevant to us, for our understanding of a concept we have no words for. So Christ in us or us in Christ does not make us Christ just as it doesn't make Christ any of us nor do I think would be the reason God "knew" us "prior" to the womb.

if i was playing hide and seek... and hid underneath my bed but left my foot sticking out just enough that my kiddos found me, when they did I am sure that they would say " there's daddy ." just from seeing my foot.

at the same time if i was to put a sack over my head and walk into church - not many people would know it was me.
the head definitely takes precedence.

But you (or we) are not Christ.

Christ ( singular ) in you ( plural ) the hope of Glory.

We together with Jesus as the HEAD do make up Christ - because we, being many, are ONE!
