The Persecuted Church
This website documents some of the persecution that Christians face around the world. Please remember to pray for those that live in areas that don't have the freedom that we currently enjoy.

It is simply amazing what we take for granted. I hope it isn't a "don't know what you have until it's gone" situation...

There is no doubt about that. That is why it is so frustrating that Christians aren't sharing the gospel in the US. Usually the worst we will get is an unkind word. There are people actually dying for their faith in other countries, and it seems like many of them can't keep their mouths shut about Christ.
If anyone is ashamed of me and my words, the Son of Man will be ashamed of him when he comes in his glory and in the glory of the Father and of the holy angels. Luke 9:26 [NIV]

Re: The Persecuted Church
I would say that we are not receiving violent kinds of persecution for at least two reasons (maybe more):
1.) We live in a country that was founded upon Christian principles. Some of that good residue still hangs on us. I believe that in trying to re-write the constitution or revise it, Christians will begin to feel more "heat" in the months and years ahead.
2.) Many Christians are mute! We face little to no verbal persecution because we are not taking a stand against unrighteousness. We have lost our tongues to share Christ. It is amazing how quickly we find our tongue to gossip or slander or tear down. Where are those tongues when Christ asks us to speak?
I am throwing down the gauntlet! Christians are weak, lethargic and have little passion for the things of Christ. Christians can quote movie lines, secular songs and late night television hosts, but cannot tell you even three of God's 10 commandments! What is wrong?
It seems like St. Paul was either seeing revival or riot wherever he went. People seemed forced to make a choice because he didn't preach "easy believism."
I believe that the church of America will have to get smaller before it gets bigger. Pruning may be on the way and I wonder how well we will do. I wonder how well I will do.
Is the church whoring after other gods? Is God lifting His hand of blessing from us because we are not taking a stand for Him, for righteousness?
Let your life answer that question!

Re: The Persecuted Church
Here is ( are ) my two cents...
I think that "maybe" we will be in shock at how fast our republican form of gov't, founded in Christian principles, fell...
After all, its kinda an illusion - it is an illusion that it is our gov't that is protecting us.
Another point i thought of was, I dont think it it lack of voice that is holding back the persecution ( in the true pruned Church ) - but instead it is a lack of persecution that is holding back the voice. and when i say "voice" i really mean Christ in US.
The Govt of self rule that is in us all is the one that really has to fall,
Babylon has fallen, has fallen...

"When Christ calls a man, he bids him come and die."
-Dietrich Bonhoeffer - martyr, author: The Cost of Discipleship
That applies to our government of self rule, too.
